UNITED
CHURCH OF CHRIST is a mainline Protestant denomination in
the United States, created in 1957 by the merger of two denominations
which previously represented four denominational traditions:
Congregational, Christian, Evangelical, and Reformed. We are
a uniting church seeking a unity of purpose and mission with
other churches and traditions, recognizing that others have
a rich heritage that strengthens Christ’s witness in the world.
UCC churches are independent and autonomous and gather as
Associations and Conferences for ministerial authorization,
support, mission outreach and resourcing. There are 411 UCC
Churches in Massachusetts, the largest Protestant denomination
in the state, 19 being on Cape Cod.
